Who is providing this service, what are their motives & what does it cost?
The Network is provided by iMediation Online Services. iMediation is the leading supplier of Internet solutions for Collaborative Commerce and has developed leading edge software & services for managing these types of networks. We believe iMediation's solution is critical for transforming the act of shopping on the web from navigating a series of tangled links into a rewarding experience.
There is no cost and absolutely no risk for Web Selling Partners (WSP's) to join the Network. Having a large number of qualified WSP's belonging to the network helps attract more top quality merchants, in turn providing more offers which ultimately attracts more WSP's.
How do I join?
Follow the link at the bottom of this page to the Web Selling Partner sign-up form. You must acknowledge reading the Terms and Conditions applicable to this program, then provide the information requested. We will immediately acknowledge receipt of your application via email and then review your application. You will be notified of our decision to accept you as a Web Selling Partner shortly thereafter. Included in the email will be all you need to get started, including instructions for logging into the Commerce Network, accessing merchant offers, joining them, adding them to your site, and viewing the flood of results certain to follow.
Do I have to install any software to participate in the Collaborative Commerce Network?
No, there is no need to install any software on your computer because access to the Network is through your web browser. Minimum requirements for browsers are Netscape Communicator 4.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0 (or later).
What skills are needed to include a merchant link in my site?
When a merchant accepts you as an affiliate, the merchant provides simple step by step instructions which guide you through the process of signing into the Network using your browser, and creating your VirtualSite. The output of this process is an HTML tag, which you copy and paste into your own site's HTML code at the location you deem most effective. Depending on the terms of your contract with the merchant, they may require specific wording or simply provide recommended text to accompany the link.
How am I informed about the results attributable to my website?
- When you sign into the Collaborative Commerce Network using your browser and the secure login and password you have chosen, you are immediately presented with a Summary screen that includes the following information:
Total sales (in dollars) your end users have produced at all your merchant sites
Total commissions (in dollars) you have earned based on those sales
Change in sales over the last week, month and quarter, expressed in dollar amount and percent. This allows you to instantly gauge the effectiveness of your site.
In addition, you are able to drill down to view sales and commission data specific to each relationship you have with a merchant. What's more, you can see detailed statistics, such as the number of session your viewers have instigated based on your merchant links, the number of pages they view within the merchant catalog, and the duration of the session.
How do consumers pay for the products? Do I need to process credit cards?
The commerce component of the Virtual Site is entirely under the control of the merchant. This means that consumers order directly from the merchant, and pay the merchant directly for their products. Web Selling Partners are not involved in the payment of the order, and have no visibility into the identity of the buyers or their credit card information.
How do I get paid my commissions?
At present, it is the responsibility of merchant members of the Network to directly pay their Web Selling Partners. Although there is a contract between iMediation (as operator of the Network) and each participant, iMediation is not a party to the agreement between the merchant and the WSP. iMediation tracks sales real-time,keeps track of merchant sales attributable to WSP's, as well as calculates commissions earned based on the rates offered by the merchants. What iMediation doesn't participate in is the actual fulfillment of the order, nor does it track cancellations, failures to ship (out of stock), or returns. Since in most cases (based on the merchant's offer), a WSP is not entitled to commission on orders which were canceled, unshipped, or returned, it is responsibility of the merchant to reconcile the data provided by iMediation with actual shipping and return data.
This sounds too good to be true: I can earn money from the existing traffic on my website while providing a valuable service to my viewers that will increase my traffic. What's the catch?
There is no catch, this is truly a win-win-win situation for the merchant, Web Selling Partner, and end user (viewer). However, we insist that you acknowledge having read the
Terms and Conditions for the program before you sign up.
