Color mapping techniques such as solarizations & posterizations can turn photographs into artworks. Posterization filters remove gradations of colors, creating areas of solid colors. The solarization filter allows us to create the appearance of a negative photographic image. The effect is very pronounced in color images. Also, some image manipulation software provide special "pschedelic" filters which apply colors such as hot pink, bright orange or cyan to the image.
